There is no place like Norfolk in summer, come rain or shine The White Horse is ready to make the most of everything summer has to offer. The tidal marshes and sea beyond are brimming with summer delights such as samphire, oysters and lovely 'blue' cockles. Fran and her team are spoilt for choice - no better woman to make those ingredients really shine. Charley, Jason and the bar team have been sampling many a gin to select the very best in our 26 strong gin collection, what heroes!
Our terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and some Norfolk tapas to take in the changing tides, big blue skies (fingers crossed) and stunning sunsets. Don't worry we have blankets to hand if it gets chilly.

We love our local Brancaster oysters washed down with champagne, so much so we could feast on them all the days of summer. However, it is nice to pick one extra special evening to truly savour and celebrate our local oysters. That is exactly what we will be doing the evening of Friday 19th August at our annual Champagne and Oyster Festival. The setting could not be better, right at the edge of the marshes just yards from the oyster beds. Watch the highest tide of the season creep in over the tidal marsh whilst enjoying Richard Loose's Brancaster Staithe oysters served 6 ways - shallot vinegar, tempura & sweet chili, mint, cucumber & strawberry, Bloody Mary, Tom Yum, nettle & mirin. Plus other foody delights such as samphire and cockles and smoked shell on prawns from our smokehouse at The Jolly Sailors.
|
We will be 'shucking' Brancaster Staithe oysters & 'popping' Champagne corks from 4pm through to sundown in our 'pop-up oyster bar' on the edge of the marsh. The tide will reach the edge of the marsh at 7.28pm 8.8 metres - fingers crossed for a stunning sunset too!

To us, nothing quite sums up summer like tapas and drinks on the White Horse terrace. We have blankets if it gets a little chilly but we are hoping for lots of rays beating off our sun trap terrace with views out over the marshes to Scolt Head Island and beyond.
